The Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) is a non-profit corporation formed to establish, maintain and endorse a standardized set of relevant benchmarks that can be applied to the newest generation of high-performance computers. SPEC develops benchmark suites and also reviews and publishes submitted results from our member organizations and other benchmark licensees.
What's New:
08/19/2008 - SPEC announces the release of SPECmail2008, designed to measure performance of enterprise mail servers compliant with SMTP and IMAP4 protocols. An initial set of results is available.
08/13/2008 - SPEC/GWPG announced a range of upcoming benchmarks at SIGGRAPH 2008. The new offerings will include a power-performance benchmark for workstations, a new version of SPECviewperf, and new and updated application benchmarks.
07/24/2008 - SPEC announces the release of SPECpower_ssj2008 V1.01. This release adds usability upgrades as well as updates to the Run and Reporting Rules, the Design documentation and SPEC's Power and Performance Methodology. Results from V1.00 are comparable to those from V1.01. Beginning September 10, 2008 all SPECpower_ssj2008 submissions will require the use of version 1.01.
06/03/2008 - SPEC announces the release of CPU2006 V1.1, adding usability and portability upgrades. Results from V1.1 are comparable to those from V1.0 and V1.0.1.
05/21/2008 - SPECgpc releases SPECviewperf 10 for Linux/Unix, available now for download.
05/20/2008 - The SPECweb committee has begun work on a new benchmark to measure power consumption for web servers.
05/07/2008 - SPEC announces the release of SPECjvm2008, a benchmark suite for measuring the performance of a Java Runtime Environment (JRE), containing several real life applications and benchmarks focusing on core java functionality. SPECjvm2008 is available as a free download.
03/19/2008 - SPEC announces the release of SPECsfs2008, designed to evaluate the speed and request-handling capabilities of file servers utilizing the NFSv3 and CIFS protocols. An initial set of benchmark results is available.
03/18/2008 - SPEC/GWPG has begun development of an industry-standard benchmark measuring power consumption in relation to performance for professional workstations.
